With the absence of Anton and Salifu, the title for the $2,000 Clay Court Championships at Colonie Golf and Country Club was wide open for the taking. Nursing an injury, Maksim Tikhomirov was forced to retire in the finals of the Men’s Open to Will Boe-Wiegaard.
The team of Caitlain Crowley and Reinaldo Riveros defeated Jensen and Olivia Messineo in the semifinals and then defeated the team of Michael Amico and Jess Macaluso in the finals of the Mixed Doubles. Caitlain also made it to the finals of the Women’s Open Singles, losing to Olivia Messineo.
In the Men’s 35’s, Ben Slusky defeated Brian Matwa in the finals.
In the Men’s 50s, Tom Buchinder ran out of gas ofter his almost 3 hour match with Eugene Barash. He was forced to default to the Bob Farley in the finals. Bob beat Richard Fortin to make it to the finals.
In the Men’s 60s round robin format, Pat Bologna defeated George Frantti and Joseph Difabio. George defeated Joseph in the other match.
Women’s 35’s, Virgine Poritzky defeated local Beverly Swimm in a tough battle 6-1, 4-6, 6-3.
